Collection: Risograph Books
My risograph printed books are created using a unique, eco-friendly method combining aspects of screen printing and digital duplicating. I make the artwork physically by drawing or sculpting with clay, and each artwork is then separated into layers. These layers are transferred onto master sheets, which are wrapped around drums inside the machine. As the drums rotate, soy-based ink is pushed through the perforations of the master sheets, transferring the design onto paper. Each colour requires a separate pass, layering the colours to create the final print. It’s a fairly arduous process, especially when printing lots of colours over many pages, but I feel like it’s worth the effort. I really like making risograph books due to their vibrant colours and distinctive tactile textures. Despite some limitations in colour pallet and registration, risograph printing my books is my favourite method for printing as it makes for a super bright, tactile and textural book.
